Brazil’s August coke imports jump

Brazil’s petroleum coke imports jumped from year-earlier lev- els in August, driven by weaker domestic production. August’s imports stood at 228,000t, marginally lower month on month but a 62pc gain on the year, data from the Brazilian customs authority show. Some 84pc of the imports were from the US, but the country also received a supramax from Venezuela — only the second shipment from the country since March 2017.
