Colombia’s 2018 coal output to rise

Colombia’s thermal coal output will grow by just over 4pc on the year in 2018, as producer Drummond and a unit of Murray Energy boost production. Production of thermal coal is expected to increase to 87mn t, growing by 3.6mn t from last year, a government source said. The rise refects an output increase at Drummond, the country’s largest coal producer, and the local unit of US mining frm Murray Energy, CNR. But Cerrejon will report a decline, the government added.
