US delays steel tarifs for EU, Nafta partners

US president Donald Trump has extended temporary steel and aluminum tarif exemptions granted to the EU, Canada and Mexico for 30 days as his administration negotiates permanent exclusions with these countries. “We are extending [negotiations] because we have seen some progress,” the White House said. “We have 30 days to continue and we are hopeful that we will get something that works for everyone.” The administration has also reached a fnal agreement with South Korea and agreements in principle with Argentina, Aus- tralia and Brazil for a permanent exemption from the US’ 25pc tarif on imported steel and 10pc tarif on imported aluminum efective 23 March.
