Spain’s petroleum coke imports waned in 2017 as its exports rose, signalling the country’s growing role as an important seller in the seaborne market. Spain has been trending toward becoming a net exporter of coke over the last two years. As of October 2017, the lat- est data available from customs data platform Eurostat, net exports were around 245,000t. This is a signifcant increase from net exports of around 41,000t in January 2016. The trade balance has oscillated since then, but the trend is upward, with particularly pronounced growth in 2017.
