US coal’s comparative price advantage to Russian and Colom- bian coals has drawn interest from Turkish coal-fred utilities and cement plants, as they struggle with rising seaborne coal prices and a volatile lira since July. Spot prices for NAR 6,000 kcal/kg coal delivered to Europe started to rebound from yearly lows in April, with more in- creases throughout the rest of last year.
