Venezuela’s severe economic crisis is stoking labour unrest in the oil industry, where workers face record-low wages, dangerous working conditions and political pressure to publicly back the government. State-owned oil company PdV was once considered Ven- ezuela’s most prestigious government employer. But as the country’s economic and political turmoil deepens, waves of workers have left their jobs there, according to a dozen oil union ofcials.
