China’s new credit-score programme aimed at increasing the production of electric vehicles (EV) will boost demand for bat- tery feedstock, including needle petroleum coke. Under regulations announced by China’s ministry of indus- try and information technology (MIIT), carmakers manufac- turing or importing above 30,000 units/yr will be required to participate in a credit-score scheme that awards more points for sales of EVs and hybrids.
