Argus will remove its US Gulf 3pc sulphur coal assessment from Energy Argus Petroleum Coke on 29 March. This will include terminating the four-week average of New Orleans 11300Btu GAR coal (PA0015216), which will be last published on 22 March. The price was included to provide an opportunity for weekly comparison of US Gulf coal to coke, but the price has lost its relevance to petroleum coke markets, as US Gulf coal is no longer the main competing fuel for petroleum coke buyers. The premium of coal to coke in other regions is roughly equal in importance to the US Gulf coast.
