Any trade agreement the US will consider under a Democratic administration will have to refect tough labour and envi- ronmental conditions, president-elect Joe Biden said on 16 November. Biden’s remarks appear to rule out quick action in join- ing the Asia-Pacifc trade agreements concluded in the past two years. That includes the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacifc Partnership that was originally negotiated by former US president Barack Obama’s administra- tion, where Biden served as vice president.
