EU will reopen ETS in phase 4: Duncan

The EU will reopen its emissions trading system (ETS) to make further changes to the regulations during the 2020s, the former rapporteur on post-2020 carbon market reforms, Ian Duncan, said on 18 October. The EU agreed a package of EU ETS reforms last year, de- signed to tighten the supply of allowances and support prices in the market’s fourth trading phase (2021-30). The move was extremely bullish for ETS prices, which more than tripled in 2018, the year the reforms were formally agreed.
