Washington has cut the volume of imports from China it plans to tax in September by more than half, in the strongest indica- tion to date that the administration realises its tarif policy is afecting US consumers. Separately, US and Chinese negotiators held discussions yesterday about the planned tarifs, sending Brent crude futures higher as the market considered the possibility of de-escalation in the ongoing trade war between the world’s largest economies.
