India delays coal mine auction process

India has delayed the auction of commercial mining coal blocks by more than a month following requests from potential investors, as the rapid increase in Covid-19 cases continued to dampen investor sentiment in the country. The due date for the submission of bids has been revised to 29 September from 18 August, according to a notice dated 8 August that posted on the e-commerce portal of Indian trading frm MSTC, the nominated authority conducting the online coal block auction. The last date for issuance of tender documents has been extended to 25 September from 14 August. MSTC did not give a reason for the revised timelines.
