Australia’s thermal coal exports to China fall

Australian thermal coal exports to China fell to their lowest monthly level in two years in March amid Chinese customs restrictions. Australia exported 2.83mn t of thermal coal to China in March, down by 23pc from March 2018, data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) show. This is the lowest amount of thermal coal that Australia has sent to China in a month since February 2017, mainly because of Chinese import restrictions.
