摘要

Fogging is a scenario that is often unwelcome on optical instruments and viewing devices, which significantly impede their performance due to the light scattering induced by water droplets. In particular, for corrective spectacle instruments, when the surrounding temperature rapidly drops or when condensation from the wearer’s exhaled breath reaches the surface of the spectacles, this is inconvenient to the wearer by causing the spectacles to be momentarily opaque. There are also other types of spectacle-like instruments including safety goggles used by researchers in a laboratory, protective gear used by firefi ghters, and reflectors used by operating surgeons. If fogging occurs in these situations, although the phenomenon is instantaneous, serious accidents and dangerous situations can occur. Moreover, unlike what has been observed under specifi c climate conditions, this type of fogging can appear at any time or place, regardless of the specific weather; therefore, it is essential to overcome such fogging problems.
