ILMA believes that voluntary and market-based approaches are generally preferable to government regulation,and that regulation usually should be pursued only as a last resort.This belief is applicable in a wide range of areas,but it is particularly applicable to metal removal fluids(MRFs).This is not an "anti-government" mindset.ILMA recognizes that regulations are often necessary and desirable.Nor does this philosophy indicate disagreement with the health,safety or environmental objectives of specific regulatory proposals.
