FIBERGLASS REPLACES PAPER IN COMMERCIAL LAMINATED FLOORING.

A non-woven glass fiber tissue developed by Owens Corning can be used to replace the Kraft paper reinforcement normally used with melamine or phenolic to produce laminated flooring for commercial applications.Commercial flooring for hotels,restaurants and stores has previously required High Pressure Laminating.The substitution of the new glass tissue allows lower pressure Direct Pressure Laminating to qualify for such applications by meeting European Norm standard EN 13501-1.Using the glass fiber,such flooring achieves fire class B(fl)and raises EN438 impact resistance to IC3.The knowledgeable persons at OC are Russell Evans and Robert Huusken.
