BOOK REVIEWS-Highly Siderophile and Strongly Chalcophile Elements in High-Temperature Geochemistry and Cosmo-chemistry

This book constitutes a comprehensive summary of the existing knowledge of the highly siderophile elements (HSE, which comprise the platinum group elements [PGE], Au, and Re) from their formation during nucleosynthesis to their abundances and geochemistry in planetary bodies and mag-matic sulfide deposits. There is also a significant amount of coverage of Re-Pt-Os systematics. While this book will be an excellent reference source for those researchers who specialize in the application of the HSE in geochemistry and geo-chronology and, to a lesser extent, those who work on PGE deposits and on Ni-Cu-PGE deposits, very few economic geologists will find a use for the book. A major distraction is its small font size (probably about 9); this renders reading the book a real challenge.
