HOW VALUE RECOVERY FITS INTO ELECTRONICS INDUSTRY'S WIDER VISION

The International Electronics Manufacturing Initiative(iNEMI)has worked to develop and then update a comprehensive roadmap to help move the electronics industry forward.The Sustainable Electronics chapter of that roadmap addresses eco-design,materials,energy and end-of-life issues.Why is environmental performance so important to the electronics industry? A key principle for iNEMI is that without market access,the electronics industry is not sustainable,and environmental responsibility is a key factor for companies in obtaining market access and even in retaining a social license to operate.Consequently,the manufacturing industry is increasingly concerned about the value from resource recovery of their products at end-of-life.
