Room acoustics generally applies the "mirror source model" as its most precise model fur the evaluation of sound fields in rooms. The mirror source model subdivides the multiple interactions of sound with the walls of a room into elementary reflections of a source with one wall, it should be mentioned that the mirror source model is an approximation, if the wall is absorbing. The mirror source model fails, when walls of a room form a convex corner las seen from inside the room). The "corner source model" also subdivides the sound field into elementary interactions. However, the elementary process is more complete, because it describes the sound field of a source in the corner area formed by two absorbing walls. An analytical approximation for the sound field of a monopole source in the corner area of two walls will be described. Although the analysis and numerics of the corner source model are more complicated than those for the mirror source model, numerical tests have shown, that it computes faster than the mirror source model, because the evaluation of the sound held in a corner with the mirror source model needs many mirror source reflections, and the positions of the mirror sources must be localized for each source, whereas in the corner source model they are Bred in the room corners.
