The genera Cuticularia (De Man, 1895), and Curviditis (Dougherty, 1953), are widely distributed throughout the world and have great potential for recycling of organic matter. Therefore, accurate identification of various isolates is imperative for their implementation. Four populations of Cuticularia oxycerca (De Man, 1895) and five populations of Curviditis curvicaudata (Schneider, 1866) n. comb, were examined for genetic divergence by random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) markers. A series of primers were used for screening, of which OPA-09, OPA-13, and OPA-14 yielded good amplified fragments. During RAPD analysis, polymorphism was scored for the presence versus absence of a particular band. The proportion of DNA fragments shared between populations is expected to be related to the degree of genetic divergence. The values of genetic distances 2.1-2.9 and 2.15-2.65, presently obtained between the tested populations of Cuticularia oxycerca, and Curviditis curvicaudata, respectively, suggest a fairly good measure of genetic diversity among these populations.
