摘要

The objective of this study is to evaluate and compare the mechanical behavior of chemically treated and untreated coir fiber reinforced composite plate at different % of the coir fibers. To accomplish this surface modification of coir fiber was done by oxidation followed by furfuryl alcohol treatment. It was observed that surface modified coir fiber showed better interfacial adhesion with epoxidised phenolic novolac (EPN) thermoset resin compared to unmodified coir fiber reinforced composites. Also tensile and flexural properties are evaluated at different percentage of the coir fibers experimentally.
