摘要

In this paper, a finite element thermal-electrical model for non-conductive ceramics process based on single capacitance discharge is presented. The model uses machining parameters such as voltage, current, discharge duration, etc to predict temperature distribution of non-conductive ceramics surface. During simulation, different dielectric mediums (air and kerosene) are introduced to forecast thermal field diversifications of workpiece surface. A three-dimensional geometric model is established to show clearly the structure of discharge channel, electrodes and workpiece. A cylindrical shape has been used for the discharge channel created between the anode and auxiliary cathode. An attractive feature of model is its ability to predict the removal volume of non-conductive ceramics, which also provides reference data for experiment processes.
