摘要

This study aims to develop a novel design methodology for building envelopeby manipulating the combined application of urban data as a source of design. Practically the developed algorithm enables building envelope to have better energy performance byoptimizing window openings size in accordance withenvironmental and programmatic conditions together. In detail, weutilize unitized window system, instead of glass curtain wall, accommodating variousopening size based on the illumination contour from scattered data interpolation. In its final, the study simulates exemplarybuilding designto prove its applicability in design practice. By doing so, wepropose a data-driven design to emphasizethe opportunities on not only energy-savingbut also differentiatedaesthetics.
