Analysis on Characteristics of Bicycle Flow on Campus

With the policy of college expansion plan in China, an increasing number of students prefer riding bicycle on campus so that bicycle becomes a main means of transportation in the university nowadays. Meanwhile it affects both capacity and level of service for the road and intersection on campus. In this paper, the purpose of bicycle data collection and the basis of scene selection are introduced. All three selected scenes and involved traffic objects are illustrated respectively. The characteristics of bicycle flow on campus are analyzed from the video in details and are extracted by the means of manual counting and video process software in order to provide the modeling foundation, data support and validation for the establishment of mixed-traffic flow model.
