Effect of Farm Yard manure on Phosphate adsorption by soils was studied. Three surface soil samples (0-15cm) were collected from Gyawana (Lamurde local government area of Adamawa state ), Kotarko ( Gujiba local government area of Yobe state ) ,and Maiduguri (11° 50' N ; 13° 05' E ) in North Eastern Nigeria . One kilogram of each soil was incubated with four levels of FYM ( 0, 5.0, 7.5 and 10 tons/ hectare ) for four months After the incubation, the soils were air dried, crushed and sieved to pass through a 2mm sieve. The soils were analysed for their physico chemical properties. Phosphate adsorption was also studied. The results showed that , the soils were neutral in reaction and had very low content of organic matter. The soil of Gyawana was fine textured , while that of Kotarko and Maiduguri were medium and coarse textured respectively. Addition of increasing concentrations of P to the soils of Gyawana , Kotarko and Maiduguri resulted in an increasing trend in both the equilibrium P concentration and the amount of P adsorbed at all levels of FYM. The amount of P adsorbed by the soils of Gyawana and Kotarko with increasing levels of FYM were lesser and variable. A decreasing trend in Langmuir constant was observed for the soil of Gyawana withincreasing levels of FYM. There was a decreasing trend in the amount of P adsorbed by the fine and medium textured soils with increasing levels of FYM.
