The above article, published online on 7 February 2005, in Wiley Online Library (), has been retracted by agreement between the authors, the journal Editor-in-Chief, Prof. Peter Lichter, the Union for International Cancer Control and John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. The retraction has been agreed due to reuse of several figure panels in the paper. Due to the time elapsed since the publication of the article, the original data for these figures are no longer available for re-analysis.
