摘要

The stresses of cylindrical shell which are originated by inner pressure and temperature difference between inner and outer surfaces of vessel are respectively classified and the stress intensity for each stress category is calculated. The corresponding maximum allowable temperature difference is derived. Conclusions are as follows, it meets the strength for most thick wall cylindrical shells with insulation under high temperature, but it is necessary to perform the calculation of the combined stresses when the temperature difference is beyond the corresponding maximum allowable temperature difference. The shortcomings of stress classification are also discussed.
