Metal Immobilization of Hazardous Waste by Cementation

摘要

The present paper deals with the cementation of fly ash from exhaust gases purification originated from combustion of hazardous materials having adverse effects on human health. After chemical characterization of samples, the solidification with cement GEOROC DOROSOL C50 was performed. The content of cement in product was 10, 20 and 30 wt.% respectively. Efficiency of cementation after 1, 4, 7 and 28 days of solidification was assessed by leaching test and further analyses. The parameters of leachate were evaluated according to Criteria for waste acceptable at landfills for hazardous waste (2003/33/EC). Results demonstrate that 20% and 30% of cement addition is sufficient for immobilization of metal when period of solidification was 28 days. 10% of cement addition was found to be not appropriate for stabilization of this particular waste regardless the solidification period.
