In order to develop technology for producing efficient microdevices, a thorough understanding of the fundamentals of microscale transport phenomena is necessary. A large group of researchers have performed experiments in order to bring clarity to the heat and mass flow characteristics of single-phase fluid flow through microchannels, but the experimental results are discordant with conventional theories. This paper addresses the various sources of error can cause erroneous data, leading to discrepancies between experimental data and conventional correlations of heat transfer in microchannel flow from 2000-2008.
