A pipe connecting fume treatment centres at Hydro's aluminium smelter in Neuss fell on the roof of one of the electrolysis halls of the plant leading to damages to the building and reduced production. There was no immediate impact on the electrolysis production follow- ing the accident. However, to repair the dam- ages to the roof and the pipe, Hydro is forced to temporarily curtail production at parts of the production line and restart a number of cells when the structure is repaired.
