As reported earlier, Hydro took over all Orkla shares in the Sapa joint venture on 10 July. This acquisition makes Hydro the only company in the global aluminium industry that is fully integrated across the value chain and markets. The deal, sub-ject to approval from several compétition authorities, is scheduled for completion in the course of the year. Sapa employs around 22,400 people and generated sales of NOK53.4 billion (?5.7bn) in 2016. The company provides aluminium solutions for a wide range of applications and is the undisputed No. 1 in the aluminium extrusion industry.
