Alcoa cuts capacity at Intalco smelter

Alcoa has decided to cut the remaining 230,000 tonnes of smelting capacity at its Intalco smelter in Ferndale, Washington due to declining market conditions. The full production cut, which includes 49,000 tonnes of earlier curtailed capacity, is expected to be complete by the end of July 2020. The smelter recorded a net loB of USD24 million in the first quarter of 2020.
