Cougar Helicopters Donates a Main Rotor Blade to Support NDE Program

Cougar Helicopters, St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada, has donated a main rotor blade removed from one of its Sikorsky S-92 aircraft, to College of the North Atlantic's (CNA) nondestructive examination (NDE) program at the Port aux Basques, Canada, campus. The blade measures approximately 26 ft long, with the cuff (connection point to the helicopter) just under 3 ft wide, and weighs approximately 260 lb. It was deemed unserviceable and removed from Cougar's aircraft in 2015 following a lightning strike. Replacement value is aproximately $500,000.
