NFTC president: Steel and aluminum tariffs biggest concern for companies

Tariffs on steel and aluminum - and the prospect of replacing them with quotas - are the biggest trade concerns for U.S. businesses, National Foreign Trade Council President Rufus Yerxa told reporters on Friday, saying the organization's member companies believe lifting the duties is the most productive thing the Trump administration could do to ensure the passage of the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement. The Trump administration last year imposed Section 232 tariffs on steel and aluminum imports. Canadian and Mexican officials as well as U.S. lawmakers have urged the Trump administration to lift the tariffs before proceeding with the ratification of USMCA.
