Grassley urges administration to resist export restrictions amid outbreak

Export restrictions on medical supplies, which some countries are imposing, will make everyone worse off, Senate Finance Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) said on Monday, calling on the Trump administration to work toward a global response. "It's a bad cycle. Restrictions reduce global supply, [which] leads to higher prices and that would trigger more restrictions and even higher prices," he said on a conference call with reporters. "This is not only impacting governments and healthcare workers globally as we work to beat the pandemic, but it will have an economic impact that we can't afford."
