The chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Asia and the Pacific subcommittee this week lauded President Trump's burgeoning Indo-Pacific strategy, claiming countries in the region are "eager" to forge bilateral trade deals with the U.S. But the president's strategy - and his earlier decision to withdraw the U.S. from the Trans-Pacific Partnership - did not sit well with other members of the panel who queried analysts about the Asia-Pacific region during a Nov. 15 hearing on China's Belt and Road initiative.
