Medical device industry groups warn against new export restraints

Medical device groups are warning governments not to impose new restrictions on medical device exports, which they say would needlessly restrict global supply chains. "[W]e are very concerned about the growing list of governments that are restricting exports and trade of vitally needed medical devices such as masks, ventilators, diagnostics, reagents, and other lab instruments and consumables," the Global Medical Technology Alliance (GMTA) wrote in a March 25 letter to G20 leaders. "We urge governments to remove these export and other supply restraints as soon as possible and pledge to promote trade in these important medical products."
