摘要

China last week expressed concern at the World Trade Organization that a proposed U.S. rule crafted to bar federal funds from being spent on certain suppliers of communications equipment would unfairly target China, which has been at the forefront of technologies like fifth-generation, or 5G, networks. At a Council for Trade in Goods meeting, China characterized the proposed U.S. Federal Communications Commission rule as a "prohibitive proposal on communication equipment or services," according to a Geneva-based trade official. The proposal would prevent U.S. carriers from using federal subsidy money on technology from companies deemed a national security threat.
