Mahoney touts USMCA experience in nomination hearing for State job

Deputy U.S. Trade Representative C.J. Mahoney on Tuesday told lawmakers vetting him for a State Department job that his experience working with Congress on the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement evidences his commitment to keeping the legislative branch informed and involved. The Senate Foreign Affairs Committee on Tuesday held a nomination hearing for Mahoney, who since 2018 has served as the deputy U.S. Trade Representative for investment, services, labor, environment, Africa, China and the Western Hemisphere. Mahoney was nominated in January to be State's legal adviser.
