Investigation on endothelialization of Ti-O film modified vascular stent in vivo

Vascular stent implantation is a valid method to therapy cardiovascular diseases, the bio-reconstructive and endothelialization of vessel wall was simultaneously transmutation following to interaction of vascular tissue and materials. In this work, Ti-O film modified stent was prepared with magnetron sputtering method, endothelialization of stent surface in vivo was investigated at 1(st), 2(nd), 3(rd) week respectively, and the tissue response was also evaluated via tissue section analysis. The result indicated that there was no thrombus formation or stent in-stenosis, Ti-O film had good blood compatibility. The Ti-O film modified stent was completely covered with tissue at 2(nd) week, which was faster than that of bare stent, it indicate that Ti-O film had good biocompatibility and could accelerate endothelialization. Furthermore, the inflammatory reactions of both stent are not obvious in early period, which indicate that Ti-O film is suitable for blood contacted biomaterials in vivo.
