Farm Progress Show marches on 300,000 attendees tour latest in plant genetics, farm innovations

The 54th annual Farm Progress Show, a field day held August 28-30, 2007, on 80 acres in Decatur, Illinois, USA, may seem like the antithesis of the large indoor meetings and expos sponsored by A0CS, the American Chemical Society, the Institute of Food Technologists, and Pittcon, but make no mistake- even though jeans, shorts, T-shirts, and polo shirts replaced suits; footwear tended toward sneakers or work boots; dust was in the air; and the temperature was ambient (at least 98°F, or 37°C, on two of the three days of the show)-the approximately 300,000 people who attended had plenty of opportunities to conduct business and learn something at the 458 booths listed in the program.
