A colourful future - the rebound in iron oxide pigments

Last year Lanxess, the world's largest producer of synthetic iron oxide pigments (IOPs), announced it was upping its game and that by 2019 it will increase its global production capacity from 375,000 tonnes per year to 400,000 tpy - a 7% rise. Its site at Krefeld-Uerdingen in Germany - the largest IOP production site in the world - will pump out a further 23,000 tonnes of red and black pigments annually, while its operation at Porto Feliz in Brazil will add another 2,000 tonnes of yellow pigments into the mix.
