Iran opens first alpha alumina plant

Iran has opened its first "alpha" alumina plant in the Northeastern province of North Khorasan, designed to serve the Iranian refractories market. The new plant, inaugurated in mid-July and which is owned and operated by Iran Alumina Co, is one of a number of industrial development projects collectively worth more than $1 billion in which the Iranian government has invested to help boost the domestic economy.
