Bauxite prices tick up again on supply scarcity; WFA

Poor availability has continued to support prices for refractory-grade bauxite over the past fortnight, while the price for white fused alumina (WFA) ticks upward and brown fused alumina (BFA) remains flat. Mining activities in major production hubs in China were still limited or under government restrictions to regulate the sector, while calcination activities were hindered by a lack of raw material. These have combined to support prices: among the four grades of refractory-grade bauxite whose prices are assessed by Fastmarkets, three were up over the two weeks to Friday March 20.
