Role of Dual Phase Multi Detector Computed Tomography in Evaluation of Liver Lesions

Objectives : 1. To characterise focal liver lesions using contrast enhanced dual phase multi detector computed tomogram by studying the pattern of enhancement of liver lesions in arterial phase and portal venous phase. 2. To compare our findings with that reported in literature. Source of the data: Data was collected from patients attending the department of Radio Diagnosis, MGM Medical College & Lions Seva Kendra Hospital, Kishanganj, Bihar with suspected liver lesions. Methods: A prospective study was conducted over a period of eighteen months (November 2013 to May 2015) on 42 patients with suspected liver lesions attending the department of Radio Diagnosis, MGM Medical College & Lions Seva Kendra Hospital, Kishanganj, Bihar. They are evaluated with Dual phase Multidetector Computed Tomography (GE bright speed 16 slice) and diagnosis were made by histopathology/typical imaging findings/clinical and lab findings as applicable. Conclusion: Multiphase Computed Tomography proved to be a valuable tool in the diagnosis of focal liver lesions by studying the pattern of enhancement in arterial and porto venous phases and helped in better characterization of the lesion.
