Trace Fossils of the Palaeogene sequences of North Andaman Island and their palaeoenvironmental significance

Ichnofossil assemblages have been studied in different sections of the Palaeogene sequence of North Andaman Island. Ichnofossils are described from these sections and changes in the ichnofossil assemblages have been identified. Qualitative assessment of the nature of bioturbation, ichonofossil assemblages and sedimentological character of the sequence indicates temporal changes in depositional environment from bottom towards top as shallow marine through deep marine to shore face.
