EU Project BioSmart-Trainee Started

Recently, the new EU project "Training in Bio-Inspired Design of Smart Adhesive Materials" (BioSmartTrainee) began, and eleven institutions from science and industry from five EU countries are taking part. The European Union is funding the project with a total of ?2.82 million for a duration of four years. Altogether, funding will be provided for eleven young scientists, one of which will be supervised at the IPF. The young scientists will work for four years on the phenomenon of adhesion on wet surfaces. In the training network, the young researchers will be trained especially in this area, which includes polymer research, adhesion and biomechanics and requires interdisciplinary ap- proaches. The joint research activities will connect the study of the fundamentals of adhesion in wet conditions with solutions for custom-made adhesive applications.
