摘要

Packaging is one of the most important steps in the manufacture of any kind of food product. It constitutes that vital link between the manufacturer and consumer for safe delivery of product through the various stages of storage, transportation and distribution. All the skill, quality and reliability built into the product during development and production is wasted unless care is taken to see that the consumer gets it in fresh condition. The loss can be minimized to a great extent by adequate protective packaging to withstand the hazards of storage, transportation handling and environmental influences. A package should provide the following requirements: containment, protection and preservation, communication, suitability for packaging line i.e., machinability, convenient in shape, size, and weight for handling and storage, environmental friendly in respect of manufacture, use and disposal. A perfect package protects what it sells and sells what it protects.
