Ameliorating Safety as an Idiosyncrasy in SPIC Fertilizer Complex

Southern Petrochemical Industries Corporation Limited (SPIC), Tuticorin maintained a stringent safety protocol of "Zero Accident Work Area" since its inception in 1969. SPIC has won various laurels for its safety record including Sword of Honour by British Safety Council. With Engineering, Education, Enlistment and Encouragement as the four guiding Es of safety principle, SPIC has attained the target of zero accident work zone for the past 49 years. Safety at SPIC is a team work with participation of all. To continuously monitor every minute incident, a round the clock team tracks all the regular activities and takes the necessary action needed. Safety awareness in SPIC is given to all employees and contract people on a regular basis with spot training, safety induction session, safety orientation training in safety department before entering the factory as a procedure of approach. Refresher safety training requirements of the plant and personnel are assured to provide advance programmes to keep pace with the new developments.
