T HE PRODUCTION OF BOTH N AND P2O5 registered negative growth during January 2009 over January 2008. Production of N at 0.860 million tonnes during January 2009 was 8.3% lower than the level of January 2008. The production of P2O5 at 0.235 million tonnes, represented a steep decline of 21% during the period. The decline in production was mainly due to reduction in production of urea and DAP of about 9% and 58%, respectively, during January 2009 over January 2008. However, the production of NP/NPK complexes and SSP showed an increase of 13% and 102%, respectively, during the period.
